MANAGING YOUR ACCOUNT
We understand that this is the last thing on your mind right now, but we nevertheless have to draw your attention to a few important aspects.
Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy treatments are relatively expensive, and because medical schemes cannot guarantee payment, you remain responsible for the account.
Each medical aid has specific rules for cancer treatment, and it is vital that you contact them before the first treatment to receive authorisation (and an authorisation number). Our accounts department can only supply your medical scheme with a motivation for your treatment and a treatment plan. It is then up to the medical aid to decide according to its rules if it will fund the proposed treatment. We will do everything in our power to negotiate with your medical scheme to ensure payment.
Should your treatment resume after a dormant period a new authorisation number will be required.
Should your medical fund option change, or the main member of the fund changes, please notify us, as well as any changes in contact details.
Because medical schemes cannot guarantee payment, you remain responsible for the account. We will nevertheless do everything in our power to negotiate with your medical scheme to ensure payment. The accounts department can supply only the following to your medical scheme:
- Treatment plan
- Motivation for treatment
Authorisation number: Our authorisation department will get authorisation from your fund. Please phone our authorisation department before you start with your treatment to make sure whether your treatment has been approved by your fund. If your treatment plan is changed or if your treatment has to be resumed after a dormant period, a new authorisation number must be obtained.
Please also remember to inform us at all times if your medical fund or option has changed. If the main member of the fund has changed, we must also know about it, as well as of any change of address or telephone number.
