Dr Tandiswa Lusu qualified with an MBCHB degree in 1998 from Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine – UKZN. She worked in the Eastern Cape until 2005, rotating in various departments. She actively participated in the establishment and launch of the first ARV clinic at Cecilia Makiwane hospital, Mdantsane in 2004.
In July 2005 she relocated to Johannesburg to work for Right to Care in their HIV/AIDS initiatives. She wrote her Diploma in HIV medicine the same year. In 2008 she joined The Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) where she was involved in training programs for TB/HIV/AIDS. She was actively involved in NIMART and Nurse Mentorship training during the NIMART roll out. Her interest in oncology came about in 2009 when she lost a family member to cancer.
She joined the oncology department at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital in 2011, as a medical officer, subsequently acquiring a registrar post at the same hospital.
Dr Tandiswa Lusu qualified as an oncologist in October 2018, she worked at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central hospital and Addington until her move to join ABJ Oncology in December 2023.
