Dr Gys van Niekerk, originally from Pretoria, is a dedicated medical professional with a diverse background. He earned his MBChB degree from Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in 2018 before completing his internship at King Edward VIII Hospital. Following this he served in rural KwaZulu Natal for community service, demonstrating his commitment to underserved areas.

Returning to Pretoria in 2022, Dr Gys gained experience in various GP practices, emergency medicine settings and pathology. In August 2023, he embarked on a part-time role at ABJ Oncology, transitioning to a permanent position in January 2024.

Outside of medicine he finds solace in trail running, water sports, golfing, and indulging in music during his spare time.
