Dr Phemelo Tshoeu matriculated from Welkom High School in 2001 and obtained her medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Pretoria in 2007. She completed her internship at Tembisa Hospital and her community service year at Bongani Regional Hospital where she continued to work as a medical officer in the emergency unit, internal medicine department and adult medical ICU. During this time, she also completed a post-graduate diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of Stellenbosch (2011-2013).
She worked as a general practitioner in private practice before joining the Department of Radiation Oncology at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital in 2018 as a registrar. She received certification in Palliative Care for the Oncologist in Africa through the University of Cape Town in 2021 and was admitted as a Fellow by the College of Radiation Oncologists of South Africa in September 2022. Dr Tshoeu completed her Master of Medicine in Radiation Oncology at the University of Witwatersrand in 2023. She joined ABJ Oncology Group in June 2023 and is based at the Vereeniging Practice. Her core competencies include treatment of solid tumours with chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She has special interests in breast, prostate, gynaecological, gastrointestinal, head & neck, lymphomas and CNS malignancies, as well as in paediatric radiotherapy.
