Dr Premlal was born in Johannesburg and matriculated from St Marys Waverly. She completed her BSc at the University of Witwatersrand before pursuing MBBS at the Shandong medical university in China. She passed the medical board examinations immediately after graduation and started her medical internship at Madadeni Hospital in Newcastle. Dr Premlal then did her community service in Alexandra Hospital and New Somerset hospital in Cape Town, thereafter she did a sessional post in psychiatry in Grooteschuur Hospital and locum posts at Cape Gate EC, Karl Bremmer and various GP posts.

Dr Premlal started working in Haematology at Olivedale Hospital in October 2023 before coming to ABJ in April 2024.  Dr Premlal aspires to further her studies. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, eating, baking and tries to keep fit with high intensity workouts and Pilates.
